David O'Berry is a former CxO/CIO currently working in Worldwide Strategic Technologies within Office of the CTO at McAfee, a global computer security company. David spent 19 years on the enterprise side as a network manager, director of information technology systems and services, and, most recently, director of strategic development and information technology in the public sector.
Within state government, in 1997, David became the director of information technology systems and services for the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services (SCDPPPS). David advanced the department’s technology infrastructure and processes by aligning end-result focus with innovation. He was responsible for a team of 28 technicians, developers, project managers, business analysts, and network and security consultants statewide. Under his direction, the team supported non-typical users, between 650 to 900 internal employees (100% mobile capable) in 53 fixed sites as well as more than 350 officers in 46 remote courtrooms, plus a growing number of non-typical external constituents.
He was then and is still a strong proponent of the use of open sharing to facilitate secure code reuse, best practices, and open in-depth security and visibility concepts in a collaborative environment as a fundamental requirement to a stronger overall digital ecosystem. To further that initiative, he has been published on that topic as well as others on several occasions.
