Linda Sanches, MPH, is a senior advisor for health information privacy in the Office for Civil Rights within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She leads the health information privacy, security and breach notification audit program mandated by the HITECH Act. She also is the OCR lead on health IT policy and coordinates other enforcement, policy and outreach initiatives. Her program management portfolio has included developing the model Notices of Privacy Practices, standing up the Privacy Rule enforcement program, creating the HIPAA enforcement training for state attorneys general, and producing the de-identification guidance. Before OCR, she led teams forming and writing the Privacy Rule. Ms. Sanches came to HHS as a Presidential Management Fellow. She received a Master's of Public Health in health policy and administration from the University of California at Berkeley and an AB in human biology from Brown University.
